Addiction is a physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual battle.
Drugs and alcohol are the most severe forms of addiction, but there are many other insidious strongholds or habits that cause the disintegration of relationships, creativity, productivity as well as physical, mental, emotional and spiritual destruction. And consequently, if not addressed leads down a path of unhappiness, misery, addictions and ultimately spiritual death. Until we know the truth about the fight we are in we can’t even begin to win the battle. Learn more about addiction here.
The Biblical Christian Counseling Model declares that the only way for lasting change and the overcoming of addictions and breaking strongholds is by having an inner transformation that changes the individual from the inside out. This transformation begins with complete surrender to God through a heart-felt conviction of the Holy Spirit exposing the reality of sin in a person’s life.
This highly comprehensive approach to addiction treatment allows the power of God and His word to heal the whole person and the root causes and underlying issues associated with addiction.
For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7
Developing faith and even renewing one’s faith is a major breakthrough for those who have problems with anger, fear, ADD, ADHD and social anxiety which can lead to depression from isolation and avoidance of living to their potential.
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad. -Proverbs 12:25
Real freedom from addiction is based on treating the whole person mentally, spiritually and physically. Many individuals caught in cycles of addiction use the substances to restrain feelings of pain stemming fear, grief, guilt, physical or psychological abuse, which if gone untreated turns into anxiety and depression and then substance abuse to ease the emotional duress. Therefore it is imperative to locate the root of the problem (potential strongholds) to begin recovery from the inside-out to attain true freedom from the thing causing the hurt, habit or hang-ups.
As the co-founder of Authenticity Well-Life Center, I offer a very fundamental approach to rehabilitation and healing of the whole person. My goal is always to reveal core problems and underlying issues that if not addressed can significantly limit the possibility of a full recovery.
For family and friends of drug- or alcohol-addicted individuals, addressing the addiction is one of the most difficult aspects of helping the addicted person seek treatment. Often, over time, daily family involvement has only managed to enable the addict. Family members frequently do not know how to bring up the issue of addiction therapy, and opt to ignore the problem for fear of pushing their loved one away during a confrontation or intervention.
